The Tower of Forex - Reaching each other using Terminology

By Tom K Kearns

If it is not enough that God came down from the heavens to see the Tower of Babel, and then separate each soul by a foreign language so that they could not talk to one another but now here lies a terminology, a language, to be used amongst the masses of foreign exchange so that they can understand one another leaving non-Forex citizens out of the loop.

I frolicked in to learn the terminology of the Forex player's world of language and indeed it looked like babble. But for the foreign exchange inhabitants it all makes perfect sense. With shortened phrases, acronyms, and idioms to explain what they need and want during the speeches of exchanges and trades, it is only a language which the traders know best. And it is imperative for any new or experienced Forex civilian to know and be comfortable with the language.

Without any question, not being educated and fully prepped in this speech to converse with fellow speakers you will be left in the dust. Confused by the terminology or not being aware of sayings they use, you can forget about embarking on the career of a Forex trader all together. At lease for now.

Forex is the leading financial market of the world and trades all global currencies in real time. To shine in any way in the Forex market the basic language is a must.

Basic terminology

The basic terminology of the Forex globe, in the least, must be known to get by.

The word bullish refers to one having a general tendency to trade on the short side of a currency pair with the belief that pair will increase in price.

Bearish is having a general tendency to trade on the short side of a currency pair and believing that pair will decrease in price.

Buying a currency pair with the hope that the price will go up is referred to as Going Long.

Selling a currency that is not yet owned with the intent that there will be a decrease in price so that the currency pair can be put back at a lower price than it was sold for is called, Going Short.

The smallest price change that a currency can make is called a Pip. In full sized lots of $100,000 it generally is equal to $10 US.

Range is also used, it defines itself my offering the seller information on the variety of prices being offered. The range gives the highest and lowest prices of the currencies.

There are tons of websites, and dictionaries that offer a full range of definitions for the Forex world of language. If you are interested in a Forex trading career you must be fully prepped on the terminology needed for conversation. If you are not you will be one of the lost souls roaming around not being able to talk to any of your fellow Forex inhabitants. And nobody wants that, do you? - 23223

Bank CD's Are Safe But Pay Little

By Skip Safert

Because of the significant downturn in the world economy people are quite hesitant to invest these days. Investments should be examined thoroughly since money is the determining factor of a person's life status and stability. To obtain reasonably high returns, people are searching for ways to invest that are safe.

One of the most common investments is to put money in a bank CD. Also called a certificate of deposit, a bank CD is a type of investment in your bank that takes a certain amount of money and locks in a predefined interest rate for a certain period of time. The bank basically puts a hold on the money so you can't spend it, but you also earn interest on that money to compensate. If you get your money out early there is normally a penalty fee that you have to pay.

Though a savings account is a similar process, the profits are slightly higher when you invest in bank certificate of deposits. The investor does not have access to invested funds within a specified time range, which is why interest rates are set higher. Because of the status of a locked down agreement the bank is able to use the invested funds more freely.

You should never put money into a bank CD that you cannot do without, and you should always consider this before you commit money. As the length or term of your bank CD increases, so does the interest rate. This means that the bank has more options to use your invested money. The bank sets the appropriate rates to make sure the investor is compensated fairly for their commitment. The essentials are that the longer the certificate of deposit lasts, the better the interest rate will be.

Convincing as it may sound, certificate of deposits may not always be a wise choice of investment. This is due to the fact that the rates the bank is paying an investor for money invested are usually quite low. If it is determined that a better rate of return can be made in stocks or some other investment vehicle, putting money in CD's may not be the best choice. - 23223
