By Megan Rewards

The place where in the value of foreign exchange is usually determined solely by the demand and supply is the Forex market. However this market was more or less closed instead of being open to every one.

These markets are known to cater only to the financially higher echelons of the society. One needs to have a substantial financial backing to invest in these markets. Only bodies like the government, central banks could participate and earn profits. The common man did not have the required resources to invest in these markets.

The technology boom, the penetration of internet in every household in addition to the change in mindset has opened the Forex market to the common man as well. Some deals have been customized such that easy profits could be earned by the common man.

Forex market is all about guessing changes in the market movement and investing accordingly. A trend is characterized by the swing in market in accordance with time. Some times the change in trends can be so rapid that they would plummet and fall down in less than a day without long-term affect. A wise guess in such cases would fetch a fortune.

While any and every investor can take advantage of the swing, the truth is that large investors can rarely afford to exit their positions just to take advantage of a swing in the market. Large investors act as position traders rather than forex day traders. They try to take advantage of the inherent profitability in the market. They do not try to earn a profit from fluctuations in the market. Hence, when a swing does take place, it is the ordinary retail investor who is in best position to take advantage of this swing.

One cannot do away with constant vigilance and keeping oneself up-to-date with the latest information relating to Forex. The dot com boom plays vital role as the fluctuations are transmitted worldwide without much time lag.

One who uses the net is undoubtedly at an advantage when compared with one who relies on age old technology like the telephone and telegraph. We cannot dispute the fact that speed is an important criteria in these markets, apart from that there are a lot of software programs available that can help one analyze the market scenario and take proper decisions accordingly. - 23223

The Benefits of a Charitable Remainder Unitrust

By Hank Brock

A Charitable Remainder Unitrust (CRUT) is used to provide an income to a non-charitable beneficiary while at the same time transferring the remainder interest to a qualified charity.

The donor would irreversibly transfer securities or property to a trustee. The trustee would then pay the donor (or other income beneficiary) income from the property for life.

A CRUT also guarantees that if the donor dies before their spouse they could receive income from the donated property of life. The donor would be compensated based on a fixed percentage of the fair market value of the assets placed in the trust. The assets would be revalued annually.

Further Contributions

The CRUT may receive assets in later years, unlike the Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust (CRAT) which does not. The CRUT also varies from a CRAT since the stream paid out by the CRUT trust must be a minimum of 5% of the annual reappraised value of the corpus.

Consequently the CRUT, depending on the reappraised value of the corpus and accumulated income, can allocate greater or lesser amounts of income while the CRAT pays a set sum of income that never fluctuates in amount.

Appreciation

The quantity of the payment to the non-charitable beneficiary can increase each year if the value of the corpus and income continues to appreciate. For that reason, the CRUT is an efficient method of fighting inflation. On the other hand, if the value of the assets continues to decrease in value over so many years, the CRUT may actually pay less income to the non-charitable beneficiary than was initially proposed.

If a grantor wishes to ensure an annual increase in the value of the income payment to the non-charitable beneficiary, the grantor should fund the corpus of such a trust with assets that pay a guaranteed rate of return, such as U.S. Treasury notes that pay interest tied to a specific rate of return. - 23223

Following Gold

By Ahmad Hassam

Gold has always been considered as the ultimate global currency. Before 1973, US Dollar used to be pegged to gold. But with the collapse of the Bretton Woods System that year, US Dollar was unpegged from gold and become a freely floating currency. Free floating means the value of the currency is determined by the economic fundamentals of supply and demand.

Now US Dollar is only backed by the full faith and credit of the US Government. In times of financial crisis like the present when the global economy is in recession, many investors try to take refuge in gold as the ultimate safe haven.

The Australian Dollar (AUD) is known for its strong correlation with gold prices among the different currencies in the world. This correlation is due to fact that Australia has gold deposits and exports gold. On the other hand, USD has an inverse relationship with gold prices. Gold prices rise, USD falls in value. This causes the currency pair AUD/USD to appreciate in value when gold prices rise.

The opposite is also true. As the US Dollar gains value, gold usually loses value. So when gold prices are rising, we can execute long trades on AUD/USD. Likewise, when gold falls in value, we can sell short AUD/USD. This relationship provides us with a method to take advantage of the fundamental factors in forex markets. It may be due to the fact that gold is considered to be the ultimate safe haven by investors in times of financial crisis.

We now know that AUD/USD pair reacts strongly to gold prices. How do you follow gold in currency trading? We will trade AUD/USD following gold. You should use RSI (Relative Strength Index) as the technical indicator to trigger the trade. If you have read the previous article on how to follow oil in currency trading, I had talked about using the CCI (Commodity Channel Index) to trade USD/CAD pair.

When both gold and oil are commodities, why is that we are now using RSI instead of CCI? It all depends on how quickly the two indicators react to volatility. CCI gives a quicker signal. This is good for relatively less volatile pairs. Whereas RSI gives slower signals, this is ideal for more volatile pairs like AUD/USD.

Using a moving average to determine if gold is in an uptrend or a downtrend. Watch the seven periods RSI on AUD/USD chart to enter one of its reversal zones. Then move back out of the reversal zone in the same direction as the gold is trending.

Enter a long trade on AUD/USD if the gold prices are rising and the RSI is crossing back above the 30 line. On the other hand, enter a short trade on AUD/USD pair if the gold prices are declining and the RSI is crossing below the 70 line.

You should set a limit order of 200 pips. You should also put a stop loss order of 50 pips for the trade. This risk to reward ratio is good and is (=50/200). The chances are you are going to make $2000 profit (200 pips is equal to $2000 on a standard lot) if the trade goes as you had anticipated. And if the trade does not go in your favor you should be prepared for a $500 loss (500 pips equal $500 on a standard lot). It is not uncommon to have a trade go against you. Only to find yourself right back in trade that goes your way after sometime. - 23223

Short Term Trading Based on The Inside Bar Pattern

By Chris Blanchet

As far as learning technical analysis goes, many investors will make short-term trades based on longer-term, "solid" patterns such as the head and shoulders top covered previously in this series. The problem with relying on solid patterns is that they are generally longer-term in nature and may not produce the short-term returns one hopes for.

The inside bar pattern is one such pattern from which investors can take short-term cues. This pattern indicates a possible change in investor sentiment in the short-term. In other words, if the overall trend has been heading down, the inside bar often indicates a reversal in that trend.

Spotting an Inside Bar

Investors who are just learning technical analysis might have a tough time identifying the inside bar. Explained (our website has a diagram), the inside bar pattern consists of a taller bar (wide trading range) followed by a shorter bar (tighter trading range). The shorter bar will fall within the same range as the preceding bar.

Find Supporting Data

When it comes to using the inside bar to commit to a trade, investors should seek additional confirmation through additional analysis. This step is often overlooked when investors start learning technical analysis. Other analysis includes fundamental data for the security, sector and market, as well as technical data such as support and resistance levels and momentum.

When it comes to analyzing the inside bar pattern, investors will achieve better trading results from this pattern when the inbound trend is steeper. Additionally, investors will want the first bar to be longer, which suggests the inbound momentum has climaxed. As for the second bar, the narrower the better as this indicates that the reversal will be more dramatic.

And lastly, the volume level should be lower for the second bar than for the first, as this hints at a better balance.

When people are learning technical analysis, it is often forgotten no single indicator or pattern should be used by itself when making a trade decision. Other analysis is required. For investors who prefer to know when to buy and sell, there is software available that will do exctly that. - 23223
